Mars in Aries

Modern

This is the engine running on its own fuel. Mars is home in Aries, so you start things other people only talk about, and you meet life head first, with appetite. Courage comes easy here. Patience does not. There is a directness to you that can read as refreshing or as too much depending on the room, and a temper that tends to flare fast and clear just as fast. The shadow side is impulsiveness, picking fights you do not really want, and burning your energy on the first thing in front of you rather than the right thing. The work of a lifetime is learning to aim before you fire, to choose the target rather than let the nearest spark choose it for you. Channeled well, this is pure initiative: you become the person who acts while everyone else is still deciding, the one who breaks the trail others end up following.

Traditional (Hellenistic)

Mars holds rulership of Aries, so here the planet acts through its own nature with nothing diluting it, and as the diurnal triplicity lord of the fiery signs it is doubly at home. Valens and Ptolemy both treat a planet in its own domicile as one given the means to do its proper work, which for Mars is to sever, to defend, and to press forward. The benefit is competence, nerve, and a will that meets obstacles head on. The cost is that Mars unchecked runs to anger and haste, the more so by night, when the malefic is contrary to sect and its harsher significations come forward. Read the houses Mars rules from Aries to see where this drive is actually spent, and weigh its condition by the planets that regard it: a benefic aspect tempers the heat, another malefic inflames it.

Lean inPoint the heat at one clear goal and start the thing today.

Watch forPick fights you do not actually care about.
