Aspects
Mars Opposition Mercury
Modern
You tend to meet your own mental drive through other people: you draw debates, provoke arguments, and can find your own unspoken sharpness coming back at you from an opponent. Balanced, it makes you a vigorous, engaged thinker who sharpens against others. The work is owning your edge instead of provoking it, and listening as hard as you argue. At your best you turn the contest of ideas into real understanding.
Traditional (Hellenistic)
A hundred-and-eighty-degree aspect sets the two in mutual tension. Between Mercury and Mars it externalizes the heat: debate drawn through other people, words met with words, a swing between sharp speech and being cut by it. Ptolemy counts the opposition among the hard configurations. The gift is a vigorous, engaged intellect and a love of the contest of ideas; the cost is quarrelsomeness, provoked arguments, and meeting one's own sharpness in every opponent.
Lean in — Listen as hard as you argue and own your own edge.
Watch for — Provoke an argument just to feel the friction.
