Cancer is Saturn's The sign opposite a planet's home, where it feels out of place and works against the grain. Mars is in detriment in Libra, the sign of balance and harmony., opposite his Capricorn house, in the Moon's cardinal water. The older authors say a planet in detriment works far from home, here the cold planet of limit set in the warm waters of nurture: emotional security that must be built against early scarcity of it. This is a redirection, not a defect: the native learns to mother themselves. The gift is deep emotional resilience and self-reliance; the cost is a guardedness that armors the heart.
