Your identity and your capacity for utter devotion are the same flame. You do not merely have a calling, you become it, pouring your whole self into the work or cause you hold sacred and feeling most alive when it consumes you. There is something of the priestess or the monk in you, willing to set aside everything peripheral for the one thing that matters. The gift is a purity of purpose few people ever reach. The danger is disappearing into it, letting the rest of a life go untended and treating the people near you as distractions from the altar. Keep the fire, but remember you are more than its keeper.
