Who you want to be and your soul-deep sensitivity keep getting in each other's way. The need to function and assert yourself can override your tender inner life, or your sensitivity can flood your sense of self and leave you raw, and you swing between armoring and unraveling. There is a real risk of hiding the soul behind a persona, or of an identity so identified with woundedness that you cannot move past it.
