Aries and Capricorn Compatibility

Aries and Capricorn put two cardinal signs against each other across fire and earth: an impatient initiator beside a patient, ambitious climber. Both want to be in charge, by very different methods.

Modern

Both Aries and Capricorn are driven and ambitious, but they reach for the goal in opposite ways. Aries sprints and improvises; Capricorn plans and endures. That difference can grate, since Aries finds Capricorn slow and rigid while Capricorn finds Aries reckless and undisciplined. Yet it can also make a formidable team: Aries supplies the spark and nerve to begin, Capricorn the structure and patience to see it through. Respect is the hinge. When each admires the other's strength instead of resenting it, they accomplish a great deal. The friction shows up over control and pace, especially when both insist their way is the right one. It works when Aries trusts the long game and Capricorn loosens the reins.

Traditional (Hellenistic)

Three signs apart, this is a A tense aspect between planets about 90 degrees apart that creates friction and a push to act. Squares are challenging but are often what drives real growth., the aspect the old writers tied to friction that can spur growth, both being cardinal yet pulling against each other. Mars rules Aries with heat and haste; Saturn rules Capricorn with cold, patient discipline, the classic meeting of the soldier and the elder that tests each one's will.

Watch for

A tug of war over pace, with both certain they lead best.
