Malefic Besiegement
Modern
Malefic besiegement hems a function between Mars and Saturn, so it works caught between the heat of conflict or haste on one side and the cold of restriction or fear on the other, with little room to move. This is not a flaw, it is a function operating under real pressure from two directions. The gift, hard-won, is the resilience and discipline that pressure forges. The shadow is feeling trapped and squeezed in the matters that function governs. The work is finding the narrow path between the two forces. At your best you build genuine strength in exactly the place that was most pressed.
Traditional (Hellenistic)
Malefic besiegement places a planet between Mars and Saturn with no escape on either side, the two classical malefics flanking it within close zodiacal distance. In the tradition the besieged planet is strongly afflicted: the matters it signifies are squeezed between aggression and restriction, hindered coming and going. It is one of the harder accidental conditions, the planet working under pressure from both the hot malefic and the cold one at once. The reading frames this as a hard condition the planet must endure and work through, never as a moral fault.
